Yesterday (Mon. October 21) there was a meeting to discuss preliminary plans for the Belair Road Streetscape plan for Baltimore City focusing on the nodes of Belair-Edison (at Belair & Erdman), Gardenville (at Belair & Frankford) and Overlea (at Belair & Fleetwood). They are currently looking at two concepts, bumpouts or medians. Sample drawings of the Gardenville node along of both concepts are below.

Thanks for the overview and the photos. I wasn't able to attend the open house meeting, but I'm interested since I live in Linover (just to the east of Belair Road not too far north of the Fleetwood intersection). Eventually, depending on SHA's and Baltimore County's priorities, we may get some pedestrian and streetscape improvements farther north.
Unfortunately, the plans presented will not calm traffic. If the true goal is to engineer a road that prioritizes retail clusters and connecting neighbors, bigger thinking is needed.
These plans as designed promote maximum throughput, and will do nothing to attract new businesses and customers to the corridor.
